Athena- Goddess of Wisdom and Intelligence This is an ancient tale, told many years ago,
Told with blunt sincerity, but the reader must deduce
If it be truth or fiction, who can really know?
It’s all about Greek deities, and begins with mighty Zeus.
He lusted after Metis, but she’d change her form to hide,
But Zeus, no slouch himself, knew how to do the same;
Eventually, rumor has it, they laid down side by side
Now Metis was with child, and that would change the game.
The Oracle had spoken that his second child would kill him,
While Metis’ guard was down, Zeus swallowed her…with child within;
But Zeus got a splitting headache, total pain through all his limbs,
The cries and screams heard far and wide created a constant din.
All the gods arrived, they were so filled with so much dread,
Then Hermes told Hephaestus to take a wedge-like stone
And use it like an axe, and split open Zeus’s head
And then out came dear Athena, birthed and fully grown.
The rest is “history” as they say
And maybe it is true;
I just tell it here today,
And leave it up to you.
Is it fact, or is it myth,
There are many points of views;
As for me, I take the fifth,
It just might be fake news!
