	My husband became unemployable with the introduction of computers as he was IT phobic. He could just about use google to search information but anything else, like emails were beyond his panic levels.

	Nas, You're right...very few accounting or bookkeeping is done by hand anymore...you have to know EXCEL or another business-type program... ~Davidf

	Yup --- when I look at my iPhone and see what it has replaced: Phones, Phone Booths, Cameras, Calculators, and all the Apps that perform all kinds of tasks ---- will digital orgasms be next? Hmmm -- THERE'S a poem for ya' !! Norm

	Thanks both. I was just thinking - my late husband would be unemployable today. He loved adding columns of figures, writing neat ledgers but was almost computer phobic. He would never have grasped the technology of spreadsheets, formulae and the other powerful calculations and conditions excel is capable of.

	nas, reminds me of what was said about the abacus when electronic calculators came out ~smile~ My dad taught me to "speed-add" when I was a kid --- he used a metronome as I added columns in my head --- and he'd set the darn metronome to go faster and faster. What tension! Your point is well taken --- "progress" is a mean street sometimes. Norm

	Accounted He has a head for numbers that belongs in the past when he kept balanced books in neat penmanship. Today accountants use spreadsheets input formulae, pivot tables to do mathematics mechanically. No one needs a bookkeeper who can add figures quickly in his head but can't work out computers.
