Remember to try to make EACH LINE in a cinquain be semi-self-sufficient so that there is not an immediate need for the next line as it adds a distinct piece to your picture.  Maybe something like this?

brisk, cool
afternoon grows
in on itself ~ blue smoke
rises from old fire, diffusing
dusk sky

Thanks, Naz - of course, that's why I said 'blends', isn't it? The blue smoke would disappear in the blue sky.

Hmmm ... gotta' think about that now.
