Thank you for the look and the listen.

Here's what I mean by "palms":   The image in the line previous is one of a person holding onto that which does not last, i.e. temporary things such as money, a job, a spouse or partner...which are all worthy things but when one puts their hope in them, they may very well slip out of our hands, so to speak.  Thus: change my palms means change that which I hold onto so dearly.

I know, when I chose that phrase it is what first came to mind.  I figure the image works, though it might not be all that apparent.

Thanks for the comment.

Hey, Joel!

I love this song; very well-written.  I don't know how you do it, honestly!  Your interpretation of your own words in the recording is excellent.  The musical background flows well and very much suits your words.   The vocal track does not at all do you justice, but I know that that will improve with your confidence in performing it.

It's a worthy song that deserves a wider audience, in my view.

I'm only puzzled by this line:

So change my palms.  Could your clarify that for me?

deLighting in your participation, and looking forward to your sharing your insight into others' posts too, Daniel  Cool

TRUTH  by Joel Howard   (listen to it and more songs from Joel at www.myspace.com/howardband)
(note: I wrote this song in response to having visited the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C. Feel free to check out their site at www.ushmm.org)

-------

Where does our need to hate come from?
It comes from a love for what is evil.
So change my heart.

Where does our lack of hope come from?
It stems from our hold on that which does not last.
So change my palms.
Change me again.

I want a lover to set me free.

You will know the truth and the truth will set you free (3x)

Where does all this deceit come in?
It starts in the places that are secret.
So expose my dark.

How does community move on?
Around one truth, around one leader.
So move us on around you.

I want a change
I want a lover
I want the truth to come and set me free

Wake me up to the injustices around me
I'm so tired of sitting here watching history fly by
