Thank you so much, Mary Ann.  Unfortunately there are very few here, though I await Norm's doing a push to have others return here, which he has promised.  I patiently wait, but meantime do most of my writing at AllPoetry.com, where I post more than one poem each day, as well as comment on others' poetry.  It's been a help to my creativity, and I've even been writing some poems in free verse... and I've written a few haibun, a couple of which I posted on my home page on Facebook.  I'd be happy to see your visit to either place while we await activity here.  deLighting in Him, Daniel  Cool

Daniel, you always bring a smile to my face.  This time, you brought a broad grin!  Thank you, my friend. It's good to reconnect with you and your wonderful poetry!

Merry Christmas!

Our media have nary
referred to dictionary
'cause everything they say is "he and I"

when they are not the subject,
referring to an object
they're tossing "him and me" into the sky.

"Grammatically Speaking"

Recently, I read an article about an elderly professor who closed down his grammar website for lack of interest. He had simply given up trying to get the younger generation to speak correct English.

Years ago, I wrote this poem titled "Grammatically Speaking". I post it now in honor of that discouraged professor and hope it will offer a bit of hope and humor to all of us who love the English language.

Grammatically Speaking
by MaryAnn Diorio, PhD

Grammar is a treasure,
Especially when you measure
The pros and cons of life without its rule.

A state totalitarian
Would stifle the grammarian,
While free men look on grammar as a tool.

Of course, there are the cynics
Who criticize the gimmicks
Grammarians must use to plead their case.

But whatever your position,
Remember the physician
Of grammar may just help you to save face.
