"Norm, could you consider moving the whole Education section up so that it isn't buried at the bottom of the site?  I think we'd get more action down here if you did!  After all, it IS an educational site!

I'll look into it -- there is more than one Forum Involved with this --- If I cannot do it, maybe my daughter Mindy can do her magic once again.

Your idea is a good one.

This certainly isn't a new FORM, Norm, but you've surely done some good takeoffs!

I like Poppy's... and maybe we all need some practice in Limericks.  On another site (MM, which isn't much active except for Larry and myself), Larry and I write a limerick back and forth to each other nearly every day, taking something from the last line of the previous to be the first line of the next!  ... and we write back and forth nearly daily in about 7 or 8 other forms too!  I've had to skip several days because of computer problems, but I'll contact him today about visiting here, perhaps.

deLightingly, Daniel  Cool

P.S.  Norm, could you consider moving the whole Education section up so that it isn't buried at the bottom of the site?  I think we'd get more action down here if you did!  After all, it IS an educational site!

This sounds fascinating, Norm. I will definitely try my hand at this. Thanks!

Very clever!  The third one, of course, gets the biggest chuckle!  --smile--

I aim for humor over anything else. Smiley  Most are filled with inside jokes that would require backstory and knowledge of my coworkers, but I tried to pick a few that might make sense out of context.

Limerick #1 (*we landed a Pizza Hut franchise and my boss requested a Pizza the Hut reference from the movie Spaceballs)

Mel bound a big account!  Woohoo!
Good thing because our rent is due.
Brent, please use The Schwartz
if our funds should fall short
or Pizza the Hut is gonna send out for you!

Limerick #2 (*we landed an account for a daycare center called "Child's Play")

My fears concerning this account are rife
or maybe I’ve just lead a disturbed life,
but the name of this bind
quickly brought to my mind,
a killer good guy doll wielding a knife.

Limerick #3 (*another request from my boss after we landed an account called "Hooker's Top of the Line Janitorial Services")

Brent wanted his house clean for a game of snooker,
saw a maid on the corner, asked to book her,
but he started to weep
at her high price per sweep—
two hundred for a top of the line hooker!

Speaking of limericks, I want to share something with you, Norm, and anyone else reading this.  I have actually written more limericks than anything else the past 3 years.  Not "perfect" limericks either, many of them "mangled" (since you used that term).  I was trying to find a way to make my somewhat monotonous job more fun for me as well as my coworkers.  I'm in the insurance biz now so every time we gain a new account, it's my job to send out an announcement via e-mail with name of client, amount of sale, etc.  Almost from the start, I'd write limericks to accompany each announcement e-mail.  My coworkers LOVE it!  I have to keep them "clean" because it's a professional workplace, but still, it's been fun and a good way to keep my creative juices flowing and coworkers laughing.  Smiley

Just about everyone has written a Limerick,  right? Well, let's say everyone has READ a Limerick?

Once in a while I like to write what I have named, a Mangled Limerick.

Here are a few of mine -- add one or two more if you like:

Mangled Limericks

The Mangled Limerick #1

This starts in the middle
It matters so little:
There once was this limerick written
And with its new form I was smitten
It fits not like a glove, but a mitten

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Mangled Limerick #2

Not done to provoke,
This is just a joke:
These lines you cannot disentangle
Here's another strict form I shall mangle
As you read the last line it just d
                                   a
                                    n
                                     g
                                       l
                                        e
                                         s.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The Mangled Limerick #3

There once was this poet named Norm
He did not take the world by storm
He just managed to mangle each form.
Oh, what a waste,
All his lines misplaced.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The A-A-A-A-A Rhyme Scheme Limerick – “Try It”

Limericks are fun, you should try it
I really have not learned just why it’s
So hard to apply it
Most poets have tried it
Don’t darn it, just write it!
