Thanks for reading and commenting Joseph, you are very kind in your words.  I guess this could probably do with a haircut.

In speaking the poem outloud I thought that there were a few adjectives that were not necessary, but I admire your work so much, it is always a pleasure to read what you write.  You are a visual poet in many ways, aural too, but lots of images.  Warmtth to you this solstice.  Joe

Nas --- I was thinking that your purple may have had something to do with the Catholic "purple" as the color of penance or sorrow?  But knowing you ar not Catholic have no idea what made me think you'd allude to that  ~smile~

Ah, the second verse speaks volumes, doesn't it? I imagined this person feeling as though a young child clutching at their security blanket, which is now deteriorating before them from the insecurity looming ahead.

Hi Norm

With purple I wanted a colour that wasn't black but heading towards it. The colour of aubergines (eggplant), dark plums and grapes.  Also had Prince song "Purple rain" in my mind

I'd never seen this one by you before. Guess it's 'cause I haven't been around a whole lot.

As you know, I'm just recently returned to the train. Have only just chosen my seat, put my ticket in the little clamp above the window, my carry ons on the shelf above and found my way to the smoker.

Might make it down to the dining car for lunch.

A poignant poem, Naz - love the purple rain opening.

Thanks very much Tim.

I'm trying to catch up on the activity over the last few days but I've got a bad eye infection so have to limit my time staring  at a screen, which is very frustrating.

Nas...wow...that really hits home with me as I read it..."it's easier to drown the truth...than face the storm"...today the storms are merely passing showers...grateful for that! Beautiful piece, though sad! Undecided

nas,

Just re-read this today and wondered about the "purple" -- what were you trying to convey by that (if I may ask)? I have an idea but may be far off-base.

Great poem Nas,

I savoured each line and remembered the pain of a tattered blanket which gives no protection from purple rain.

One day I hope to write like this.
