This is a sonnet I can wrap my head around and be delighted with.  I really appreciate something so whimsical!  Thank you!

I'm new here and noticed that this one has been sitting neglected for some time. I wonder why, it seems a perfectly delightful sonnet to me!

The images from children's bedtime tales used to weave together a growing up story summarized in the closing couplet was very skillfully done.

Technically it flows well and does not (to my ear) sound forced so I would say well done and thank you for offering a great sonnet!

Imagine

By twilight's magic glow the children wondered
through seas of Mother Goose and fairy tales.
In pea-green boats to pirate treasure plundered,
the words took wind to fill chimera sails.

They journeyed after lambs and cockleshells,
cruised under bridges, once to trounce a troll.
Then, dragons cringed, old witches lost their spells
and crocodiles ate porridge from a bowl.

While each abandoned ship for grown-up shores
and drew apart along life's compass rose,
those big bad wolves still blow their threats at doors
and rulers stand as stark without their clothes.

Although our paths diverge as currents wend,
our kingdoms stretch the length we first pretend.
