Hi Peach

Must be lovely to have someone like this to come back to after being away.

Quote:
She was happy to come home
relieved to escape the competition
and derision, have someone
who would listen,
show concern for her cares,
dry her tears, tell her what
she needed to hear, interjecting,
their own tiny woes, the right
amount of ohs and ahhs,
grieving with each lesson,
learned or proposed,  ..Would the partner be the one  to grieve over the lessons she has learned?
genuinely thrilled
that she has made the effort,
to return, to living
an ordinary life,
after being,
so long away

This is meant to represent ANY homecoming from the street kid to the country giirl, depending on the reader who may attach some memory withhin their own past, inclusive of military moms, which happened to be my own thought...Thanks

Paul, want to retain"being away"as the terminology could inspire the thought of against ones own will, imprisoned by something out of their control!   Thanks again!

Peach,
I don't know why, but somehow I picture a country girl in this poem, maybe somebody who couldn't take the stardom placed upon her...forgive me if this is not what you meant to portray...

Maybe rather than
"after being away
so long"  simply "after so long" rounds it of more neatly.
Regardless I love it's homeliness. There is a palpable sense of relied and you can almost hear a resigned but nevertheless contented sigh.

Fuzzy warm and waiting,
welcome, never gets too old
or too cliché, any more
than love flies,
dries, or dies, just because
someone leaves it behind.

Early on, home becomes
synonymous
with security, the place,
we hang our hat,
seek relief from threat
or storm,
where, we hope the door
will always swing open,
each time we return.
