Haven't done a sonnet for a while now, I tend to stray a little on other feet these days , but OK, I'll sit and put on sonnet shoes for a spell.

Okay, I thought I had a direction, anyway: I figger, most people with sonnet "issues" actually have issues with meter, so I opened the thread on the trickiness of meter, thinking we could address two things in essence...the first being the fact that iambic does not have to be as hard-and-fast concrete issue as some think, and the second that the sonnet is not always as hide-bound about iambic as we may be making it seem.

I think the form is lovely...possibly one of the finest structures in poetry...but I'd like to see us focus on the poetry and remember that the form is just the package, after all.


(It may be that my brain has been affected.)

I think I can still mount a shetland pony, so, yeah -- count me in. Rene told me she really wants to become an R&M writer that all that freedom she gets in free verse has really kept her form-oriented-brain in chains  ~smile~ 

What's the plan? -- and thanks for jump-starting this again.
