Okay, Terence, now you've got me thinking about nuts (pecans are my favorite) and sonnets and that sort of thinking always produces something...I just never know what.

Actually I have a big investment in a funny farm, for later. Truth is, I'm not supposed to eat much in the way of sugar so I do eat a lot of peanuts, and cheat with the chaser of a good ale.

This is adapted from a little ditty I just wrote for another forum. In the spirit of advancing the sonnet form, lol, it is an ABnormal sonnet with the Mythic rhyme scheme of AbbA abba abba AA. The meter is a bit pushed but - gimme a break! 
 
 
Nuts about Buts
Some think I’m strange, or possibly a nut, 
but I love groundnuts! It is my belief 
they do so much good without any grief. 
I could get Arbys or McDonalds, but 
I would not ever eat at Pizza Hut. 
Instead, I get my Planters from beneath 
the tabletop and grind them with my teeth 
until they fully satiate my gut. 
 
No fattening sugars like the donut; 
no fear of getting my last lily wreath 
from bad cholesterol as with roast beef; 
or toffee gluing my new dentures shut.  
But best of all about the great peanut? 
It goes with beer and not onto my butt.
