The Cinquain is my favorite form (in case y'all didn't know).  Here are a few from my personal archives.



Migration 

The geese
on winter’s eve, 
with no warm resting place,
leave the cold lake, and trustingly
fly south.



One Flame

One flame
alone can keep
back the frost, and deny
darkness when time tries to snuff the
last spark.



Memories

On small 
noiseless feet they 
come from cold, dark rooms of 
our home to sun themselves on the 
doorstep.



Truth

Truth is
man’s great secret,
the only absolute,
and to all questions, the only
answer.



Cinquain for Samantha

She was 
born in silence, 
but her gentle heartbeats
will forever whisper within 
my soul.
