Quintine

This poetic form is a syllable-counting form, like nonet, cinquain, lanturne and Etheree. There are no restrictions as to subject matter, nor is there a prescribed rhyme scheme.

It is a five line poem with the following syllable structure:

L1 - 1 syllable
L2 - 3 syllables
L3 - 5 syllables
L4 - 7 syllables
L5 - 9 syllables

Here is one of mine (3 stanzas)

Gently Bow (A "love" poem in Quintines)

was fetal
warmed within the folds
of sunlit dunes of grandeur.
I chased the curls of unlocked essence.

I'm
viewed smaller
than grains transparent,
telescoped, inward and still,
balancing on floods of emotions.

From
Ararat,
I'll try sun- bathing.
Sending forth this bird of peace,
I'll gently bow and apply sun-block.
